Moving Security Center 9 to another server

I am trying to move the Kasp Security Center 9 from an old 2003 server I want to retire and onto a new 2008R2 box. Currently Security Center connects to a database that is hosted on a separate box (Full 2005 SQL install, 2008 x64 server). So I have the instructions, but as usual with these sorts of things, there are a lot of things that aren't made clear. The big one is that I'm supposed to backup the database, which is fine and easy with the KLBackup utility, then it says simply "Delete old Server database".

This, of course, makes me nervous to just whack my database and hope that the restore works. But I also don't know much about SQL, so I'm not sure how to go about doing this correctly without touching the other database that is running on that server.

Now I could try using the supplied SQL 2005 Express and setting it with the same name as the other database and try restoring to that, but I don' t know if it will migrate from the full to express SQL or not. Complicating that is that the new server has vCenter 5 running on a 2008R2 SQL instance. But some info I've seen indicates that I can only restore to the same version of SQL as the backup came from so that may not even be an option. See my earlier comment about my minimal knowledge of SQL.

My plan was to just point it at the old SQL but it looks like it will require deleting that database which makes me nervous. Guess I'm looking for advice.
