I want to confirm my potential answer to the problem of tracking FULL URLs of users.
My network consists of 50/50 macs and windows users. At the edge is a Sonicwall NSA 2600 with AppFlow and Analyzer, no CMS.
Initially I thought AppFlow would be able to fully track network usage of every user, but as it turns out, seems to be somewhat flaky in its reporting (and thus a waste of money quite honestly). I can't find any web sites I've visited in AppFlow, for example, but in Analyzer, I can only find the site domain that I have visited.
I need a reporting system that can give me FULL URL. For example, www.google.com/
I'm currently looking at an internal proxy as the simplest solution. All the client-side solution I have found thus far requires Windows, so that's probably not an option. I looked at Untangle, but that seems to be too complex of a solution for simple URL tracking, and still seems to be quirky with Hyper-V deployments.
Assuming a proxy is the answer, what is out there that can do web tracking, put it in a nice report, and can install in a Hyper-V VM?
