Student classroom passwords

We are setting up a video editing classroom with iMacs, to teach video editing using Final Cut X and Adobe Premier.

The instructor we've hired comes from the public school system, and has taught these sorts of classes before. She wants to use a single user account for everyone in the lab -- the idea is, everyone in the Monday class would log on as, say "student1," in the Tuesday class as "student2" etc. they'd use the same iMac over the whole course, and their work would be saved to the local disk.

As a security-conscious IT admin, I'm kind of uncomfortable with this, although it does seem a lot simpler for the instructor than having to manage 20 different user accounts & passwords for each class.

The lab is completely isolated from our internal network, so there's not a real concern over kids hacking in to our Exchange server or something.

Does anyone have any experience or insights about this topic?

Thanks!
