I think KAV is killing services at boot.

But i can't seem to pin-point it.

here is what happens:

new win7 64 bit build system with Kaseya, KAV (A/V), and KAM (malwarebytes) installed. also using their deployment to do adobe and java products, Office 2010 installed from Kaseya agent procedures and so on.

Boot the system, log on, notice notification icons are not showing. at this point you can't right click, some times you can open the start menu, sometimes you can't. If the start menu opens, you can't open any programs or expand the shutdown menu, you can shut down though. if the start menu will not open, you have to hardboot it. through all of this you can Ctrl+Alt+del and click on task man, the system will kick you back to the desktop as it should but task man never opens.

reboot may clear it, or it may not. if it does not, you can reboot, log in as either a different user or the local admin and everything will work fine. log off and back on as the original user, everything will work fine. If the original user IS the local admin, you have to use an alternate account.

this issue then may never come back again, OR it may do all of this over again the next time it is rebooted.

Event logs are clean, no errors, you can see when services just stop starting. the services prior to this are inconsistent and lend nothing to an explanation.

I have been testing a system all day, first with KAV installed, then with KAV uninstalled. Numerous reboots showed no issues in either state. installed windows updates and then I had issues.

Go to uninstall KAV again and retest.

anyone else had this issue?
