Camera in elevator

I'm spec'ing a job to have cameras installed in 2 elevators and was just trying to decide on the best media to use.  Currently I have a cat5 cable going from the basement to the 25th floor and I'm guessing it's pretty close to the 300 feet limit.  Now the customer wants 2 cameras in the elevators and the mechanical room is on the roof so when the elevator is completely down, it's about 28 to 29 floors meaning another 300+ feet of cabling.  There will be some recabling done in the building.  I have the following questions :

1. Should a fiber be run between the mechanical room down into the elevator.  If so, what kind of fiber (shielding) or should I just run CAT6 cable (maybe shielded) because of the movement.

2. On the 25th floor, I will be putting a switch there to hook up other POE cameras to the existing CAT5 cable.  Can I just hook up a media converter to attach the fiber that would be going down the elevator?

3. If option 2 is no good, I guess the only option would be to run fiber all the way up from the basement, then run it all the way back down the elevator (most labor intensive)

In case some are wondering, no I won't be running the actual cable in the elevator.  We will have the elevator guys (licensed) to do that part.  We just need to supply the cable to be used.
