Hi,
I'm looking for a few people to help test a new 2FA server that allows people to use Google Authenticator to log into a VPN that we've been developing
We built the software as a drop-in replacement for Cryptocard (now part of SafeNet I believe), which we've been using until recently to provide two-factor authentication for our VPN. Their software is OK but there's no decent mobile client and it's a clunky install. So we decided to build our own!
The basic design goals were:
- A simple and light-weight Windows service that is easy to install and doesn't need loads of dependencies (just the .NET Framework)
- Quick and easy to manage a small number of users (theoretically there's no limit but I think it'll be most useful for providing 2FA for small organisations of up to 10 or so users)
- Compatible with as many VPNs or firewalls as possible
- Lets you use Google Authenticator as your token instead of having to carry round a hardware token or install custom software on your mobile phone
The software is alpha which means it probably works but looks a bit rough! At the moment the alpha software can talk RADIUS (which means it should work with most VPNs) and there's also a simple web API if anyone wants to integrate 2FA into their own website or web application.
What I'd be looking for from testers would be:
- Does it work and how easy do you find it to use?
- Details of any bugs, errors or odd behaviour you find
- Suggestions for other things the software should do or support (i.e should we support 2FA for Outlook Web Access, Windows Logon, Remote Desktop, etc)
In return if we ever launch this commercially you'll get a free copy, we'll credit you (if you want!) and for anyone in London I'll buy you a beer / coffee.
PM me if you're interested or just ask a question on this thread.
Thanks!
Andrew
