It has now been over 2 years since TrueCrypt has had an update.

Does anyone know why this is so?
Is any software that good that it can go unattended for over 2 years?
I have also been waiting for the results of "IsTrueCryptAuditedYet"? [Not Yet]

TrueCrypt 's 70,000 lines of code are finally to be placed under a comprehensive security analysis. This could turn out to be a serious problem with a tool that so many entrust to encrypt their private data - or it may not. I'm sure we are all waiting on this.
We lost PGP - after about 7.1, and now TrueCrypt could also turn out to be a basket case. I would appreciate any thoughts you have as to what [FREE] options you might be considering if TC does go belly up. I'm aware of the "pay for" alternatives, but I'm sure you can imagine the rush there will be for any freeware that fits the bill.
