I'm looking at attaching digital signatures to AutoCAD drawings (and to PDFs hopefully), one of the municipalities to whom we submit drawings has started to require this. It's all new to me, I was hoping someone could help shed some light on this for me...
When I use the Autodesk tool to attach a digital signature, it says that "No valid digital ID is available on your system" and then sends me to VeriSign. However, I'm not sure what type of certificate I need to get, as there are quite a few to choose from. I would think I'd need a code signing certificate as opposed to a SSL cert, but I'm not sure. What type do I need?
Also, will I need one for each project engineer who will be sealing the drawings, or one for the company that everyone can use? Do I need a managed PKI?
I'm not too keen on using VeriSign because they seem much more expensive than other CAs, can anyone recommend one that costs less? I've looked at ARX CoSign, which seems to do digitized signatures and seals. Does this include the digital signature certificate, or is it only the digital seal and digitized signature? Has anyone used their service before?
